5LOVE THIS HELMET...but does not INCLUDE the Chatterbox like I thought.
By R. Taylor Weber
I went from a 3/4 HJC helmet, riding my scooter for a year in the Spring and Summer for a year to this HJC full-face helmet at the beginning of Spring 2012. I really thought I would still use my 3/4 helmet in the Summer but I was soooo wrong. This helmet is much more comfortable all around, I feel FAR MORE SAFE, it keeps the bugs from smacking me in the face and the wind sound and vibrating doesn't bother me any more. The full face definitely keeps the wind from blurring my vision from vibration which is obviously safer. I was very impressed how well vented it is, keeping me pretty cool on hot days. Granted, my trips aren't very long on my 150cc scooter (15 miles one way at best) but it's still impressive. I have to admit I can't tell when the vents at the top are open or closed since there's an open space below your chin that air gets in. On the days I'm riding and it's colder, I just wear a thicker scarf or one of those neck, ski fleece, "turtle fur" things under my jacket up to my chin or even sometimes over my mouth.

The cushion lining on the inside is extremely comfortable and if I read the information correctly, you can remove it to be cleaned. I am a 37 year old woman that rides to work so I've noticed some of my make-up has rubbed off on the sides...oh well. I'm the only one wearing it so who cares right?

I would say that once you're used to where to grab or slide, all the vents, internal sunshades, clear visor and chin button to open the helmet are easy to work with. I would not suggest trying to slide the shades over your eyes while you're in motion but I have done it. You have to reach so far to the back of your head and that's just not a good idea.

Certain pairs of sunglasses I used to wear with my 3/4 helmet no longer sit well at all when wearing this helmet. It's mainly the glasses with thicker side arms...if that makes any sense. Even some of my prescription eyeglasses don't sit st raight since somewhere around your ears or cheeks the cushion pushes them too far to the left or right. Because of this I only wear certain glasses with this helmet or choose contacts.

When I shopped Amazon for this helmet, I spent more on this model because I read about the Chatterbox. What I soon learned on arrival is that it's only MOLDED FOR the Chatterbox. You still have to spend something like another $200 to get the Chatterbox that fits into places in this helmet. Bummer...but I still love it!!!! Knowing what I know now, I would have gone with the less expensive helmet since I do not have the desire to spend another $200 for the added accessory any time soon. It's been a long time since I did that shopping but it's possible this is a nicer model all around. I like to tell myself that since I'm pretty sure it was an extra $100 for this model. UGH.

The white is pretty sporty, I like that it seems people notice me quicker when I'm out riding (safer) and I get tons of compliments on this helmet for some reason! I would recommend this to many different types of riders. I also was happy to learn that it fits in my scooter's external trunk. Not the trunk under my seat but the one on the back rack. That was such good news since I often go for quick trips to the store and I don't want to be forced to bring my helmet with me.
